STUDENT NEWS

Dubuque is doing an All Community Reads Book.  It’s called Picking Cotton by Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Cotton.  Stop by the library or any Hy Vee to grab your book and join in the community discussion.  The authors will also be in town on November 5th to discuss the book! 

Are you still looking to join the Battle of the Books??  We are looking for three more people to join a team.  Stop by the library for more information.

Dubuque Senior's Science Bowl team will begin practicing on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room B234 (So that means our first practice is TODAY! 🙂).  Science Bowl puts a competitive edge on practicing science and math topics - no need to be an expert!  Each practice guarantees that you will leave having learned something new!  New members are always welcome, so please join us when your schedule allows, or come consistently to be considered for the travel team.  Please see Mr. Gates or Mrs. Fischer for more information.

The Lost and Found has many items that need to be claimed, from clothing to water bottles.  Stop by the Intervention Room to claim your lost those items.

ACTIVITIES

Students – it’s NOW time to sign up for WINTER SPORTS!!!!  Even if you are currently in a sport and are going to be doing a winter sport – you need to sign up now!!  Come to the Activities Office to make sure you have all of the required paperwork needed to sign up.  Don’t wait until the last day!  The following sports start on November 11th – Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Bowling, and Men’s Swimming.  The following sports start on November 18th – Men’s Basketball, Wrestling, and Winter Cheerleading (yes, cheerleaders you need to let us know if you’re switching to winter cheer!!).

 COUNSELORS OFFICE

Seniors ~  College Application Day is TODAY, October 17th from 7:35-2:00.  Stop by the counseling office to work on college applications, get your college search started, or work on FAFSA and scholarship applications.  We will have college reps, food, prizes and giveaways available for those that attend.  Please get prior approval from your teachers to attend. 

Juniors & Seniors:  The School Counseling Office will be visiting Kirkwood Community College on November 7, grab a permission slip in the Counseling Office if interested.
