Congratulations to the new National Honor Society officers: Aaron Locher (president), Andrew Grawe (vice president), Jameel Kelley (secretary), and Sam Pfab (communications specialist)! With 4 great leaders and 98 top-notch members, NHS is sure to do many great things in the year to come!

Ram Women’s Track and Field: Congratulations to the following ladies who competed in last weekend’s Iowa State Track Meet:

Carolyn Davis, Marissa Boleyn, Hannah Cook, Grace Gudenkauf, Kortney Lightfoot, Katie Kramer, Jamila Johnson, and Emma Sass.

The Ram placed in following events:

2nd in the State Grace Gudenkauf in the High Jump
5th in the State Grace Gudenkauf in the Long Jump
9th in the State in Shuttle Hurdle Relay
13th in the State in the Sprint Medley Relay
14th in the State in the 4 X 200 Relay
16th in the State in the 4 X 100 Relay.

Congratulations to our Men's track team for a strong performance over the weekend at the state meet in Des Moines.

State qualifiers included: Jameel Kelley, Tony Osterkamp, Austin Heiderscheit, Mark Whalen, Landon Kraus, Collin Seymour, Brad Ware, Jacob Osterberger, Lee Bonifas, Preston Kizer, and DeAngelo Jackson. Carter Bauer, Damarcus Johnson, Shane Sweeney, Ty Kloft and Noah Bullock also came to Des Moines as alternates.

Place winners include Collin Seymour, who finished 7th in the 400m low hurdles with a time of 55.55 seconds, and DeAngelo Jackson, who won the long jump. DeAngelo's leap of 22'8.25" was the longest jump in class 4A all season and the second longest jump in school history. DeAngelo is also the first long jump state champion in school history. Great Job Rams.

All girl's wellness lockers must be cleaned out by Thursday, May 28th at the end of the day. All unclaimed items will be donated. All locks must be turned in or a $5 fee will be charged to your student account for the missing lock. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Riley.

ATHLETES

If you received a letter from the Activities Office about retaking the IMPACT CONCUSSION TEST – you NEED to retake it! Please show up on the date that you are scheduled for on your letter. If you are unable to attend the date scheduled for you, there is a make-up date, but you NEED to let Mrs. Woodward know in the Activities Office. The IMPACT Concussion Test is ONLY good for two years. The reason you have received a letter and need to retake the test is because your two years is up and you will not be able to practice or participate in any fall sports next year until you retake it. Andersen Windows is looking for fulltime employees on all shifts! MUST BE 18. Benefits include insurance and vacation. Great job if you are not going to college or if you want to earn $ to pay for college.

Attention Football Players

On Thursday May 7th IJAG students attended the Career Development Conference in Des Moines. They brought home the gold medal for their banner and Alex Stoddard brought home the silver medal for Math101. Congratulations to the following students for bringing home the gold medal , Deshawn Drummond, Kejuan Montley, Katrice Richards, Brianna Cleveland, Teresa Thoma, Sami Selesky, Hunter Duster, Callie Waterman, Kevin Wortley, and Alex Stoddard. The Ram Men's Track and Field Team competed well last night in the M.V.C. valley division conference championship last night.  Top place winners in the sophomore division include...

2nd place to Tony Osterkamp in the high jump

1st place to Jonny Massman in the discus with a throw of 119'-11"

and 1st place to Will Whalen in the two mile with a time of 10:34.29

Top performers in the varsity division include

Jameel Kelley, 3rd place in the shot put.

2nd place to the shuttle hurdle relay team of Collin Seymour, Landon Kraus, Brad Ware and Jacob Osterberger, breaking their own school record with a time of 58.99 seconds.

2nd place in the 400 m low hurdles to Collin Seymour. His time of 55.46 puts him ahead of Tim Dolson for 5th place in school history

Finally, DeAngelo Jackson earned a conference championship with a long jump of 22' 1.5". The leap also bumps DeAngelo to 2nd place in school history.

Great job Rams.

Ram Women’s Track

Congratulations the Ram Women’s Track Team on their fine efforts in last nights MVC Conference Meet. The Varsity finished 6th and the Junior Varsity finished 3rd as a team. The Rams were led by Grace Gudenkauf who was the Rams only Conference Champion. Grace won the Long Jump and High Jump.

Other Medal winners for the Rams were the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team, the 4 X 200 Relay teams. Team members were Katie Kramer, Kortney Lightfoot, Caroyln Davis, Stevie Lambe, Emma Sass, and Jamila Johnson. Great Job Ram Women’s Track.

Computer Science Exploring Program Kick-Off: Monday, May 11th, 2015 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Loras College (Hoffman Hall, 1600 Alta Vista St.) Through this program, students will earn about computer science and programming. Gain hands-on experience from Loras professors and advanced computer science students to design and program a computer game and app. Stop by Guidance for More information. ​

This meeting is for all returning swimmers and divers and anyone interested in swimming or diving in the fall. Andersen Window on Kerper is looking for full-time employees on 2nd shift - must be 18.

With a Red Renaissance, tickets will be $10.00, a Blue Renaissance tickets are $12.00 and all other tickets are $15.00 each. Please remember that all Senior High School students must have their school ID….if you have lost your school ID, You need to purchase a new ID in the Business Office first.... a new ID is $5.00. All guests must, MUST have a picture ID. Guests WILL NOT be allowed into the dance without a picture ID.

PROM Ticket purchases end at the end of the day TODAY if you are bringing a Non-Senior guest and tomorrow at noon for Senior Students.

Senior Men’s Basketball

Congratulations to the Senior Men’s Basketball team on Winning the Sophomore and Varsity divisions in Loras League yesterday. The Sophomores defeated Wahlert in the Championship. Varsity defeated Cascade, Hempstead and finally Beckman in the Championship. Great Job!!

The Senior Girls golf team placed 4th in yesterday’s 14 team Super Meet.

Maddie Hawkins fired a 75 to place first individually and led the Rams to their 4th place finish. Following Maddie was Emma Noel with an 87 followed closely by Jessie Westhof's 88. The final scorer for senior was Morgan Petersen with a 113.

Yesterday's round will be combined with this Monday's round to determine the Conference Champs. Senior is currently in 2nd place in the Valley division. Good Luck to all of the girls this Monday.

"Celebrate the end of the school year with Spanish, German and French Clubs Today, May 6th. The Clubs are hosting an International Desert Making Contest. Make an international dessert to enter into the contest. First place wins a cash prize! Come join us for dessert-tasting and games tonight right after school in the cafeteria. The Women’s golf team has had a very busy week.

Starting the week with a 2nd place finish at a triangular at Timberline. Leading the RAMs as the meet medalist was Maddie Hawkins with a 44, followed by Emma Noel with a 46, Jessie Westhof with a 52 and Morgan Petersen with a 67.

The RAMS returned to Timberline on Tuesday for the 18-hole Bobcat Invite where they finished in 4th place out of 8 teams. Again Maddie Hawkins lead the team and finished as the meet medalist with a score of 81, following her up was Emma Noel who finished in 8th place individually by shooting a 93. Also scoring for the RAMS was Jessie Westhof with a 105 and Kristin Michel with a 123.

Last night the girls participated in and won a triangular held in Cedar Rapids. Meet and Team medalist Maddie Hawkins lead the way for the RAMs by shooting a 42, following her up was Emma Noel with a 44, and Jessie Westhof and Claire Siegert finished the scoring for the RAMs by shooting 51.

The girls currently hold a 16-10 record, which they hope to improve on Monday at the Super Meet.
