STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council has one position open for a 9th grade representative. If you are interested in running for this position, please come to an informational meeting during A or D lunch, in room B138, on September 11th.

CAREER EXPLORATION: Ever wonder what career you wanted to pursue? Here is your chance to try out different careers with the experts through the Explorer Post Program. The following programs start in the month of September and are open to any student in every grade.

If you are interested in firefighting, police work, fashion design, auto mechanics, veterinarian medicine, physical therapy, radio broadcasting, or early childhood teaching – stop in guidance to get the information you need to begin!! Don’t pass up this exciting opportunity and bring a friend with you.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Great part-time job at local law firm running errands and doing mailings. Work hours are from 3-6 p.m. daily and Sat. mornings for $8.00 per hour. Must be responsible, 16 yrs. old, have a valid driver's license, and your own transportation. If interested, check out the bulletin board by guidance or stop in guidance for more information.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB:
When: Wednesday, September 5th
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Place: Flora Park

SWIMMING MEETING: Men's Swimming will have an organizational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5th in the Library immediately after school (2:20 pm).

COVERS OF COMFORT: Student council is starting Covers of Comfort. Covers of Comfort is an organization that makes fleece tie blankets for adult cancer patients at regional hospitals. You can participate by bringing in money, fleece, or by making a blanket. Donations can be dropped off in Ms. Wessel’s room B138.

SCHOLARSHIP: Have you volunteered or done any community service over the past year? You might want to consider applying for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. If interested, please see your school counselor. The top volunteer can win $1000 plus a trip to Washington, D.C.

ANNOUNCER NEEDED: If you would like to read the daily announcements during A or D study time, please come see Jayne in the main office. She will set up a time for you to audition for the job. Auditions will be held after school today, August 30th.

FRENCH CLUB MEETING: If you are interested in joining French Club, please come to our first meeting today, August 30th. You can come either before school at 7:15 am, or if that does not work, we will meet again at 2:25pm in room E-34. If you have any questions please see Madame Sartori in room E-34.

ID PICTURES: Any student that has NOT had their ID picture taken, it will be taken today in the auditorium. Please report to the auditorium between the beginning of 1st hour and the end of 2nd hour. Retakes will be taken at a later date.

UPPER ROOM MEETING: The Upper Room club got off to a great start last week! Join us this Friday at 7am in the gym lobby. We always have treats! Get there at 7:00 to see what we're going to do during the "5 minutes of Craziness"!!

FOOTBALL GAME REMINDER: Our first HOME football game is Thursday, August 30th at the University of Dubuque. Sophomores play at 6:00 pm, with Varsity to follow. We will play the Linn-Mar Lions.

A few reminders about student behavior at all games:
1. We are the HOME team and will use the UD Home side ONLY for bleachers. There is no reason to be on the visitor side of the field.
2. NO STANDING ON BLEACHERS, or BACKS of BLEACHERS.
3. No banners, noisemakers, or signs are allowed.
4. NO ONE is to enter the playing area; before, during, or after the game.
5. The student section theme is Hawaiian night, but SCHOOL APPROPRIATE attire is required. Those wearing inappropriate attire will be sent home!
6. Show your RAM PRIDE and act accordingly. We are guests on the campus of UD. Inappropriate/destructive behavior will not be tolerated.

KEY CLUB MEETING: Key Club will meet at 7:10 a.m. in Ms. Gibbons' room, B241 on Wednesday, August 29th. Come join us for light snacks and find out about all of our important fall activities. This is a great group to join if you like to help build a strong community here at Senior as well as in Dubuque and you want to put your leadership skills to the test. We have lots going on and we need all the help we can get. Come check us out this Wednesday and find out more Dubuque Senior's Key Club.
