FYI: If you are a student looking for extra help with homework, please consider taking advantage of our AmeriCorps program. We currently have one volunteer through the AmeriCorps program who can help students get caught up on work and provide extra academic support. Amy's schedule is as follows:

FYI: The Dubuque Senior Speech Team received 16 Outstanding Performance nominations to the 2012 Individual Event All-State Festival at the University of Northern Iowa. The Dubuque Senior Varsity team also earned the E. Wayne Cooley Sweepstakes Trophy, given to the high school with the most nominations to the Festival. This marks the second consecutive year the Dubuque Senior Speech Team won the Sweepstakes Trophy. The Dubuque Senior Speech Team has now had a share or won the Sweepstakes Trophy in the last three speech competitions (2012 Individual Events, 2012 Large Group – tie, 2011 Individual Events – tie). Only other school in the history of the IHSSA has earned both the Large Group and Individual Events Sweepstakes Trophy in the same year.

The Festival is sponsored by the Iowa High School Speech Association, which is an affiliate of the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union.

CONGRATULATIONS: The DSHS Band program has more good fortune - two of our students, Jon Fuller and Colin Niemer, have been accepted into the State Honor Jazz Band! They will be featured in concert in the 85th Annual Iowa Bandmasters State Conference in May. They will be involved with rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday, May 9 and 10. The final concert will be in the Marriot Hotel Downtown Des Moines on May 10 during the conference.

Students will report to 5th to receive their tickets and then sit with their 5th hour class.
Students who do not have a 5th hour class will purchase the tickets in the AP office. The day of the assembly they will report to the cafeteria to receive their tickets.
