STUDENT NEWS

Test Exemption Sign UP time! Students wanting to exempt a semester final, have an "A" in a class, with no more than 4 absences need to show their teacher their Red or Blue Renaissance card to sign up.

AP Composition students: Plan to attend one of the following meetings to receive this summer's readings. Come to the library on either Tuesday afternoon, May 23, from 2:25-2:40 p.m. or Wednesday, May 24th at 7:15-7:30 a.m. See Ms. Koch or Ms. Lammer-Heindel if you have any questions.

If you are signed up to take AP US History in the 2017-2018 school year, please plan on attending one of the following meetings to pick up summer reading materials.

Parking lottery sign up for next year has begun.
Student’s that will be in 12th grade for the 2017-18 school year may stop by the AP office and sign up for the parking lottery. Names will be announced in August at Registration, for students that will be able to purchase parking stickers.

Current 11th graders, please check with the Senior High health office to verify that your immunizations meet the new state law requirements that will be in effect for 2017-2018 school year. If you are not compliant, you may be excluded from school until you have the necessary documentation on file with the health office." Any questions please go to the health office.

ACTIVITIES


The Women’s golf team
played the 3rd and final round of the Divisional meet Monday in Cedar Rapids. The girls represented Senior very well placing 2nd overall in a very strong conference.

Maddie Hawkins took the individual conference title by shooting a final round 70 giving her a 3-day total of 226. By placing first individually, Maddie received Athlete of the year, as well as, MVC 1st Team All-Conference honors.  Abby Marting placed 3rd individually by shooting a final round 80 giving her a 3 day total of 240. By placing 3rd individual, Abby received MVC 1st team All-Conference honors.  Sara Swift placed 11th individually by shooting a final round 99 giving her a 3 day total of 283 and MVC 2nd team All-Conference recognition.   Breanna Felderman shot a 98 yesterday and was the final scorer for Senior. Her 3 day total was a 301, and was 1 stroke shy of MVC Honorable Mention recognition.
Also representing Senior were Autumn Kemp and Ellie Akins. These six girls will play to defend their city title by playing the 2nd round on Wednesday .

FOOTBALL MEETING:
There will be a meeting for everyone planning on going out for football next fall in Nora gym on TODAY at 2:30. We will cover summer and fall schedules. Calendars, camp info, and apparel info will be handed out.

BOYS – if you are NOT in the 2nd semester Performance PE class, your varsity locker needs to be cleaned out and the padlock needs to be returned to the Activities Office today! Anything left in the lockers after June 1st will be removed and you may be charged for the padlock. PLEASE get your lockers cleaned out today (this includes all football cages as well)– thank you!

Swimming Meetings:

The Men’s Swim Team
will have an informational meeting tomorrow Thursday, May 18th in room B142 at 7:15 AM or 2:30 PM. Again, any returning or interested athletes are encouraged to attend to learn about summer and fall training opportunities. If you are unable to attend, please see Coach Huff before the end of the school year.

The 8th Annual Grey Ribbon Crusade will be taking place on Monday, May 29th. This run to fight brain cancer continues as a memorial to honor former DBQ Senior High School track coach and staff member, Jim Boughton and his hard work and legacy of achievement he left behind. It is also used as an avenue to continue the fight against brain related cancers by donating all of it proceeds to help others fight brain cancer.

There is a Kids mile race, a 5K race/walk, followed by a 1 mile race –with all races finishing on the Dalzell track. Please stop in the Activities Office or visit www.greyribbondubuque.org to get registered today!
