STUDENT COUNCIL: Student Council has one position open for a 9th grade representative. If you are interested in running for this position, please come to an informational meeting during A or D lunch, in room B138, on September 11th.
CAREER EXPLORATION: Ever wonder what career you wanted to pursue? Here is your chance to try out different careers with the experts through the Explorer Post Program. The following programs start in the month of September and are open to any student in every grade.
If you are interested in firefighting, police work, fashion design, auto mechanics, veterinarian medicine, physical therapy, radio broadcasting, or early childhood teaching – stop in guidance to get the information you need to begin!! Don’t pass up this exciting opportunity and bring a friend with you.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Great part-time job at local law firm running errands and doing mailings. Work hours are from 3-6 p.m. daily and Sat. mornings for $8.00 per hour. Must be responsible, 16 yrs. old, have a valid driver's license, and your own transportation. If interested, check out the bulletin board by guidance or stop in guidance for more information.
ANNOUNCER NEEDED: If you would like to read the daily announcements during A and D study time, please come see Jayne in the main office. She will set-up at time for you to audition for the job. Auditions will be held after school on Wednesday, September 5th and after school on Thursday, September 6th.
ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB:

SWIMMING MEETING: Men's Swimming will have an organizational meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5th in the Library immediately after school (2:20 pm).
COVERS OF COMFORT: Student council is starting Covers of Comfort. Covers of Comfort is an organization that makes fleece tie blankets for adult cancer patients at regional hospitals. You can participate by bringing in money, fleece, or by making a blanket. Donations can be dropped off in Ms. Wessel’s room B138.
SCHOLARSHIP: Have you volunteered or done any community service over the past year? You might want to consider applying for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. If interested, please see your school counselor. The top volunteer can win $1000 plus a trip to Washington, D.C.
ART CLUB MEETING: There will be an Art Club meeting on Wednesday September 5th at 2:30 p.m. in room B63. This will be an informational meeting for any students interested in joining Art Club. If you are interested in art and enjoy doing fun and creative activities then come to this meeting! For more details see Mr. Fautsch or Mrs. Eagle for details.
GSA MEETING: The Dubuque Senior Gay Straight Alliance will be having the first meeting of the school year on Monday, September 10th in the Guidance Office. We will be meeting before school at 7AM and after school at 2:25 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and feel free to bring a friend!
UPPER ROOM MEETING: The Upper Room has a great meeting last week, especially the crazy game!! Join us this Friday at 7 am. We meet in the gym lobby. We always have treats! Come right at 7 am to join in the ‘5 minutes of Craziness’.
ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FOOTBALL GAME FRIDAY NIGHT:
This Friday the Senior Rams take on Dubuque Wahlert at Loras College. Sophomores play at 5:00 pm with Varsity to follow. As many of you know, seating is a big challenge at Loras College on the visitor side.
A few reminders about student behavior at Loras:
1. We are the VISITING team and will use the Visitors side ONLY for bleachers.
2. There is a small concession stand on the Visitors side. Porta-potties are available on the visitor side.
3. You are allowed to SIT on the hill in front of the bleachers. NO STANDING and NO LAWN CHAIRS in front of the bleachers.
4. Lawn chairs are permitted on either side of the bleachers, behind the sidewalk.
5. No banners, noisemakers, or signs are allowed.
6. NO ONE is to enter the playing area; before, during, or after the game.
7. Show your RAM PRIDE and act accordingly. We are guests on the campus of Loras College. Inappropriate/destructive behavior will not be tolerated.
