STUDENT NEWS

PowderPuff Football meeting is the Wednesday, September 18th!  The meeting will take place in the student council room during support time.  Make sure to FlexiSched to Mr. Leytem for this time.  It is a mandatory meeting if you signed up to coach or play!  We can’t wait to see you there!

On Saturday the #4 State-Ranked Senior Girls Cross-Country Team traveled to Luther College to compete in the All-American Invitational.  The Junior Varsity Rams were sensational, capturing the team title in a field of 21 teams and 320 runners.  The JV Rams took four of the first five places and were led by individual champion Caylie Kosanke.  Elyza Hoffman (3rd), Elise Hallstoos (4th), and Grace Ries (5th) ran fantastic races, as well.  Eva Wood (13th) and Kes Whalen (15th) also placed within the top 15.

The Varsity Rams surged to a 2nd place overall finish in a field of 27 teams that included 4 teams ranked in the top 10 in the state.  The dynamic duo of Claire Edmondson and Lillian Schmidt put the hammer down to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.   Kate Miron sped to an new personal best time and finished in 16th place, while Izzy Gorton (30th) and Josie Stackis (31st) raced well to round out the scoring for the Rams.  Lucy Tompkins Garoutte (43rd) and Lucia Nelson (57th) also raced well in the field of nearly 200 runners.  To top it all off, Assistant Coach Keith Weber had a fabulous hair day!  Way to go Ram Runners!

HEY Rams!  Did you know that your very own Dubuque Senior High School has a Gay/Straight Alliance?  Come to our next meeting by Flex-timing to Mrs. Weiland in room B129 Thursday, September 19th.  Once again, that is Mrs. Weiland in B129 for THIS Thursday, September 19th Thank you and on behalf of your GSA leadership team, have a wonderful day!

Upper Room would like to invite you, to our weekly morning meeting at 7:00am -7:25am on Tuesdays in room B135.   Come read the Bible and pray together.  We look forward to seeing you. 

Seniors---there will be a MANDATORY senior class meeting on Tuesday, September 17th during Support time in the Cafeteria. 

Attention Juniors & Seniors : DSHA will visit the University of Iowa on Thursday, September 26th and the University of Northern Iowa on Thursday, October 10th.  If you are a junior or senior with a 3.0+ GPA and are interested, stop by the school counseling office to pick –up a permission form.  The first 50 students to register to each event will be able to go. 

Students – if you purchased an Activity Pass, you should have a Capitol D in the lower right hand corner of your ID.  If you do not, please stop down to the Activities Office so we can issue you a correct ID.
