STUDENT NEWS

Congratulations to both of our teams that competed in the Tristate Area Battle of the Books on Thursday.  Both teams qualified for the final round, and the Novel Ideas took 1st place and are Tristate Area Battle of the Books champions!
Attention All Senior Students:  If you plan to take a Physical Education Athletic Exemption for the 2020-2021 school year, you need to complete an exemption form.  These forms are available in the Counseling Office.
In order to receive a physical education exemption at Dubuque Community Schools, students must be involved in TWO SPORTS.
Please complete and return these forms to the Counseling as soon as possible.  If an exemption form is not turned in, a PE Class will be added to our schedule

Are you grades feeling the winter blues?  Then come to F.A.S.T. (Friday Academic Support Time).   We have tutors for all subject areas.  It is also a great opportunity to get work completed and quizzes/tests caught up.  Come join us every Friday!  F.A.S.T. is located in the Library from 7:30-8:15am.  

Boys Tennis:  There will be a boys tennis parent/athlete informational meeting on Monday, March 2nd at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria about the upcoming season.  Please plan on attending if going out for boys tennis.

This year’s Senior High Awards Assembly will be on Monday May 18th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Senior High Auditorium.  

We will have a variety of scholarships (Memorial, Community/School, and Specific College Sponsored) that are available for our Senior High graduating students in the class of 2020. 

To be eligible for these scholarships, you will need to complete an application that was emailed to you (at your school email address) and your parents on Monday February 10th, 2020.  Please fill out the application form electronically and electronically submit the completed PDF application to Mrs. Lawrence at llawrence@dbqschools.org by Tuesday March 10th, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.

If you have any questions, please stop by The School Counseling Office to talk with Mrs. Lawrence. 
No late applications will be accepted

Only Senior High School students can purchase a ticket at the dance Saturday night.

Attention all 11th and 12th grade students.  Please make sure to check your Flex Time Schedules.  All 11th grade and 12th grade students have been assigned to attend a CPR Session sometime in February or March.  These sessions will run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during your Support Time.  This is a graduation requirement and you must attend all 3 days.  If you have received a CPR Certification during your High School Career, you may bring a copy of your CPR Certification to Kim Strang in the Registrar Office.  This certification will exempt you from taking the CPR Course during Support Time.

Congratulations to Dubuque Senior High vocal Jazz Ensemble, SenVoJa, as they received straight ones at the IHSMA Vocal Jazz Festival Monday night. Their next performance and competition will be Friday February 28th in Cedar Rapids for the Kirkwood Community College Vocal Jazz Festival.

Tuesday, February 4th


STUDENT NEWS

Congratulations to the color guard on an outstanding weekend representing the Rams at the Marching Auxiliaries Regional Competition in Sioux City on Saturday.  Soloists Maddie Wright took 1st Runner Up and Jacob Brimeyer was named Outstanding Guard Soloist!  Duets Bailey Simon and Jacob Brimeyer took 1st Runner Up and Lorelei Walker and Maddie Wright earned 1st Place!  The team earned a Superior Rating and 1st Place for their Love Wins routine and were awarded an Outstanding Choreography Award and Judges Choice Award!  The Judges Choice went to 4 routines out of over 100 during the day!   Congrats to the guard!!
