STUDENT NEWS

On Saturday, February 18th, the Dubuque Senior Speech Team performed at the Iowa High School Speech association Large Group All-State Festival at Iowa State University. They team of 75 Dubuque Senior students participated in performances ranging from Musical Theatre to Television News. The Dubuque Senior Speech Team proudly closed the ceremony by claiming two Critic’s Choice Awards in the categories of Group Mime and Radio Broadcasting.

In the category of Group Mime, Old Biddy Bingo claimed the Critic’s Choice Award. This humorous and touching piece conceptualized by the cast features juniors Teoni Kirby, Kirsten Lucy, Alexis Moller, Sophie Mozena and Jacy Paar.

In the category of Radio Broadcasting, KAIR took the Critic’s Choice Award. Written and performed by the cast it features senior Chris Cates, Marcella Hoff and Brittany Smith, juniors Delanie Rhame, Benedict Schulz and Zeke Voseberg, and sophomores Evelyn Cook and Eden McFadden.

our next writing club meeting will be Wednesday, February 22 at 2:30 in Mrs. Williams' classroom, A213. Hope to see you there!

Students - you may order yearbooks for the 2016-17 school year up until April 1, 2017. We will not be ordering extra books so if you want one, your order must be in by that date. Books can be ordered through the online student payment portal or the Business Office. Books are $45. If you order a book, it will be available for pickup at registration for the 2017-18 school year.

Students of this year’s Graduating class.

This year’s Senior High Awards Assembly will be on Monday May 15th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Senior High Auditorium. We have a variety of scholarships (Memorial, Community/School, and Specific College Sponsored) that are available for our Senior High graduating students.

For you to be eligible for these scholarships, you will need to fill out our application form electronically and electronically submit the completed application to Mrs. Lawrence at llawrence@dbqschools.org by Wednesday March 8th, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.

If you would like to fill one out, come to Guidance and give our secretary, Mrs. Pfab, your name and email address. Mrs. Lawrence will then send you the electronic application to complete.

JOBS


The following places are looking for part time workers: FaZoli's, Culver's, Panera. These places hire workers age 15 and up! Check out the job bulletin board by guidance.

ACTIVITIES

There will be a Girl’s Golf Informational Meeting today at 2:30 pm in Room A309.

Girls Basketball players – you will need to clear out your basketball lockers by the end of the day Tuesday, Feb 21st. Anything left in the lockers after this day will be removed and put in the PE Office. These lockers will be used for track and soccer. Thank you for your cooperation!

The trapshooting club will be holding an informational meeting today after school in B143. Anyone interested in trapshooting should attend to get information for the season or see Mr. Miller in B143.
