STUDENT NEWS

Attention Rams!  There will be a STUDENT VOICE meeting in the Auditorium on Wednesday, October 10th during both A or D support time.  The STUDENT VOICE meeting is time to visit with Dr. Johnson about things going at Dubuque Senior and provide input on how we can make Our House better.  To attend this meeting to share your voice or to be heard, students should sign up for their Support Time using FlexiSCHED.     Look for STUDENT VOICE meeting or look for an offering by Ms. Pfohl.  Attendance will be taken!  We look forward to hear from you! 

Regardless of which branch of the military a veteran served on, we know that they made a great sacrifice to protect our country.  During conferences this fall, National Honor Society is giving a way to thank them for their bravery.  

Please bring non-perishable food items or paper products with you to conferences on Tuesday, Oct. 9, Tuesday, Oct. 16, or Thursday, Oct. 18.  All items will be donated to the veterans association to help veterans in need.

Sign-ups for the Spanish Chicago Trip are this week.  Get information in E39, or form your Spanish Teacher.  Payment and registration forms go to the Business Office.  The Deadline is this Friday, October 5th, so don’t delay! 

We were able to order extra 2018 Yearbooks.  The yearbooks will be available to purchase for $50, beginning Tuesday October 9th at the Business Office window.  We have a limited number of 2018 yearbooks to sell.

ACTIVITIES

Are you interested in Cheerleading?  There will be a Mini-Tryout to fill some vacant spots on the Winter Cheer Team for the 2018-19 Basketball Team!  The tryouts will be held on both Monday, October 22nd and Tuesday, October 23rd in the Wrestling Room from 3:30 – 5:30 pm.  There is a MANDATORY packet of information that needs to be filled out and turned in before you can tryout.  These packets are available at the Activities Office.  So, if you’re interested in being a cheerleader and didn’t have the opportunity to tryout last spring, now’s your chance!

Sign-ups for the Spanish Chicago Trip are this week.  Get information in E39, or form your Spanish Teacher.  Payment and registration forms go to the Business Office.  The Deadline is this Friday, October 5th, so don’t delay!

PINK OUT SHIRTS are HERE!!   If you ordered a PINK OUT t-shirt this coming Friday’s football game-you can pick it up Wednesday morning from 7:00a.m-7:30a.m. in the Commons Area by the Attendance Office.

Congratulations to all of the members of the Ram Marching Band and Color Guard on an excellent performance at the Five Seasons Marching Invitational this last Saturday.  Our band placed fourth in their classification with a score of 69.1.  Congratulations to all on a job well done.

 Discovery Club:  Do you like caving?  We are going to the Maquoketa Caves on Sunday, October 7th  from noon to 4.  Contact Ms. Pfohl in B220 or Ms. Koch in A217 for permission forms and details.  We meet on Thursday mornings in B229 at 7:15.   Come and join us paddling and caving.

What: The counseling department is promoting a College Application Campaign for all seniors to get applied to college, get help with scholarships, and with filling out FAFSA, We will have FREE FOOD, door prizes, giveaways, and local colleges will be here to help!  If you are already applied to college, no worries, stop by and tell us where you have applied to make yourself eligible for the door prizes.  Sign –up in the counseling office or stop in on October 5th

What to Bring:  Social Security number and a credit card to pay for applications.

Senior Girls XC:  It was another incredible weekend for your Ram runners as they competed in the Steve Johnson Invitational at Wartburg College.  In the varsity race, the Rams finished 3rd of 25 teams and were led by the historic performances of Claire Edmondson and Lily Schmidt.  Claire finished as runner-up and Lily finished in 5th, and BOTH runners broke the previous school record for 5 kilometers, with Claire's 17:55 the new school standard.  Senior Ashley Donovan raced extremely well, cruising to a 19th place finish.

The junior varsity girls were dominant en route to their team title, taking 9 of the 10 top spots.  Lucy Tompkins-Garoutte was individual champion followed by runner-up Kes Whalen.    Keep it rockin', Ladies!!!

Attention - if you are interested in diesel mechanics the deadline to sign up for the explorer post at Truck Country has been extended to October 5th.  This includes a top gum competition.  Stop in Counseling Office for more info. 

The Conservation and Wildlife Explorer post has extended registration until this Wednesday.
