Last year, our freshmen/sophomore team took down Hempstead with a strong showing. We are looking for more of the same this year. Tell your math teacher if you are interested or Mr. Kueper in A322. You will miss class that afternoon on Nov. 3rd. and get back around 6 pm that night. Also, come to math club this Thursday morning, Sept. 30th, at 7:10 am in A322 and see if you are interested and we will start preparing for the competition.

FYI: Interested in Early Childhood Education: Little Treasures preschool & daycare invites you to participate in the Early Education and Childcare Exploring program. This program illustrates child development, preparing lesson plans, and aspects of administration. First meeting will be Tuesday, October 5th from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. at Little Treasures located at 2035 Radford Road in Asbury. Any questions, stop in guidance.

FOOTBALL GAME REMINDERS: Students will be admitted to the game by showing their Activity Pass. Students that do not have an Activity Pass will be required to buy a $5.00 ticket. ID Cards – Students are required to have their ID Card in their possession at the game. Failure to provide the card if asked will result in dismissal from the stadium.
Senior is the home team. Treat cheerleaders, band, and other spectators with proper respect. Show true RAM pride! Please remain on the home side throughout the game. Also, throwing of objects in the stands is not allowed. Fans violating this policy may be removed from game. Please, stand at attention during the National Anthem. Also, if you are wearing a hat at this time, remove it. When the game ends, do not run onto the field. Please allow the teams to shake hands and the losing team to leave the field. After this has taken place, you can celebrate with our team.

FYI: Senior High School’s Model UN team continued their tradition of domination at the Regional Conference held Sept. 28th at Loras College. The team garnered 7 of 8 “Outstanding Delegate” nominations from our Region. The following “Outstanding Delegates” Emily Brannon, Emily Weig, Nathyn Runde, Joe Schneider, Michael Nauman, Ellen Vaassen, and Kenny Capesius will now compete at the State Competition to be held October 19-20th in Des Moines. Other Team Members include: Jill White, Nick Kringle, Hans White, Katie Evans, Matt Roth, Rachael Daoud, and Mitch Heacock.

FYI: Congratulations to the Ram Girl's Cross-Country Team for the outstanding performance at last Saturday's Midwest Invitational at Janesville, WI. The Rams raced hard to achieve extraordinary results; of the 51 Ram runners, 47 of them ran their all time best or season's best time! The Varsity team finished an impressive 10th of 30 teams and were led by Randi Westervelt and Hannah Timmerman. The Frosh/Soph team finished 6th of 21 teams and were led by the top-20 performance of Kendra Conforti in 18th and the 30th place performance of Natalie Jacobsmeier. The Junior Varsity team ran to a 6th place finish of 29 teams. They were led by Seniors Kat Martin in 9th place and Krista Laufenberg in 21st place. Great Job Ram Runners!! Please come out to the Soccer Complex this Thursday at 4pm to watch the
Rams compete for a SWEEP of all three races at the City Meet!!!

FYI: The Senior men ran against 6 of the top ranked teams and individuals in Wisconsin Saturday. The varsity placed 7th of 37 teams.

WINDOW PAINTING: It’s that time of year again. Homecoming 2010 is right around the corner. So it is time to organize our annual window painting and we would like to welcome your group to come and customize a window here at senior on Saturday, September 25th starting at 8 am and going until noon. Supplies will be provided by us. You can however donate liquid dish soap and/or your own paint brushes; however, these are not required, and will be provided by Senior’s student council. FYI: The Senior boys golf team won a triangular meet on Wednesday against Western Dubuque and Linn-Mar. The Rams beat two very good teams at the Meadows Golf Course to record their first meet win in many years. Senior
had their best meet total of the season with a 164. Western Dubuque had 165 and Linn-Mar 168. The scores that counted for the Rams was Josh Weeber with a 40, Kyle Leytem and Quinn Dawson with a 41, and Chris Foley
42. Josh Weeber tied for medalist honors with the best score of the meet. Congratulations Ram Golfers!

Scott was a member of the Senior High baseball squads in the mid 1990's and was killed by a hit and run driver in the summer of 2002. MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS: Men's cross-country did an amazing feat. They set 30 life time personal bests, broke 65 barrier breakers and had 26 runners run under 20 minutes. This is as rare as a lunar eclipse. A barrier breaker is when a runner runs a minute faster, this happened 65 times on Saturday. Senior places 3 out of 18 teams in the varsity with a score of 101 and the junior varsity placed 3rd out of 20 teams. Ty Wittman was 2nd in a field of 119 running a time of 16:16 over 3.1 miles. Andrew Brimeyer was 7th 16:57, Dylan Eigenberger 25th 17:32, Tim Wittman 30th 17:39, Kody Fitzjerrells 37th 17:53, Tyler Runde 39th, 17:55, Conor Weitz 54 18:15. Wes Westervelt placed 3rd out of 336 runners in the JV race with a time of 17:45.

SPANISH CLUB MEETING: The first Spanish Club meeting will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 14th, at 7:15 in Room E40. We will be planning fall and Homecoming activities. Please sign up for Spanish Club with your Spanish teacher.

ALL STUDENTS: If you are interested in gaining first-hand experience and knowledge in a specific career field, please take advantage of the Exploring Post. Businesses and professionals sponsor an exploring post program to help students explore a career field of choice, while they lend their expertise to guide and mentor. Benefits include leadership, mentoring, first-hand knowledge of the profession and resume building for college. Some universities who sponsor even offer college credit. Obtain more information by contacting our School Counseling Office.
Programs coming up (some starting next week) include:

FOOTBALL GAME REMINDERS: Reminders for Friday night’s Football Game with Waterloo West:
Students will be admitted to the game by showing their Activity Pass. Students that do not have an Activity Pass will be required to buy a $5.00 ticket.
ID Cards – Students are required to have their ID Card in their possession at the game. Failure to provide the card if asked will result in dismissal from the stadium.
Senior is the home team. Treat cheerleaders, band, and other spectators with proper respect. Show true RAM pride! Please remain on the home side throughout the game. Also, throwing of objects in the stands is not allowed. Fans violating this policy may be removed from game.
Please, stand at attention during the National Anthem. Also, if you are wearing a hat at this time, remove it. When the game ends, do not run onto the field. Please allow the teams to shake hands and the losing team to leave the field. After this has taken place, you can celebrate with our team.

WINDOW PAINTING: It’s that time of year again. Homecoming 2010 is right around the corner. So it is time to organize our annual window painting and we would like to welcome your group to come and customize a window here at senior on Saturday, September 25th starting at 8 am and going until noon. Supplies will be provided by us. You can however donate liquid dish soap and/or your own paint brushes; however, these are not required, and will be provided by Senior’s student council. FYI: The Senior Volleyball team defeated Waterloo West Tuesday night 3-1. Angela Wagner had a match high 10 kills, Kaily Mohr dished out 27 assists and Ali Metcalf had 24 digs. The JV and Sophomore teams also defeated Waterloo West, both teams sweeping their opponents.

SPANISH CLUB MEETING: The first Spanish Club meeting will be held on Tuesday morning, Sept. 14th, at 7:15 in Room E40. We will be planning fall and Homecoming activities. Please sign up for Spanish Club with your Spanish teacher.

ALL STUDENTS: If you are interested in gaining first-hand experience and knowledge in a specific career field, please take advantage of the Exploring Post. Businesses and professionals sponsor an exploring post program to help students explore a career field of choice, while they lend their expertise to guide and mentor. Benefits include leadership, mentoring, first-hand knowledge of the profession and resume building for college. Some universities who sponsor even offer college credit. Obtain more information by contacting our School Counseling Office.

FOOTBALL GAME REMINDERS: Reminders for Friday night’s Football Game with Waterloo West:
Students will be admitted to the game by showing their Activity Pass. Students that do not have an Activity Pass will be required to buy a $5.00 ticket.
ID Cards – Students are required to have their ID Card in their possession at the game. Failure to provide the card if asked will result in dismissal from the stadium.
Senior is the home team. Treat cheerleaders, band, and other spectators with proper respect. Show true RAM pride! Please remain on the home side throughout the game. Also, throwing of objects in the stands is not allowed. Fans violating this policy may be removed from game.
Please, stand at attention during the National Anthem. Also, if you are wearing a hat at this time, remove it. When the game ends, do not run onto the field. Please allow the teams to shake hands and the losing team to leave the field. After this has taken place, you can celebrate with our team.

FYI: The Senior Varsity Volleyball team competed at the Davenport West Tournament last Saturday and finished second overall. They beat Durant in the Semi-final and eventually lost to Western Dubuque in the Championship
match. Congratulations to Angela Wagner for making the All-Tournament team. The Rams play again tonight at Waterloo West.

FYI: The boys golf team got second place in a golf meet on Thursday at Gardner Golf Course in Cedar Rapids. Connor Grant and Josh Weeber were medalists at the meet with the best score of a 39. The other low scores for the
Rams were Quinn Dawson-43, Kyle Leytem and Chris Foley each had a 44. Senior recorded a 165 for their lowest meet score of the season.
