CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to all of the band musicians on outstanding performances this past weekend at the Coe College Jazz Summit and the Dorian Honor Band Festival! Out of the 24 4A jazz bands at the Coe Jazz Band Festival our jazz band won an outstanding performance award and Adam O'Dell was named outstanding soloist in the Class 4A competition. Scoring well into the divisional I categories, our jazz band may be competing at the Iowa Jazz Championships in April in Des Moines. Congratulations to all of the jazz band members on a great accomplishment!
The Dorian Honor Band festival is made up of over 800 high school musicians from the upper mid-west states. The following Senior students were all participants in the solo competition at the Dorian Honor Band on Sunday and Monday. Austin Baugh on French Horn, Courtney Chaffee on Trombone, Jessica Larsen on Tenor Sax, Lily Brondyke on trombone, and Jonathan Fuller on trumpet. Out of the 147 soloists involved with the competition, two our students, Lily Brondyke and Jonathan Fuller received honorable mention. In addition, Courtney Chaffee and Jessica Larsen were featured soloists in the final concert with the Rondo Band on "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." Once again, congratulations to all of these students on their hard work and accomplishments in their representation of Senior High School! Kudos!
