STUDENT NEWS

We are weeding old non-fiction books from the library. Stop down any time to select books to read, or to use for art projects with recycled books that could be displayed in the new library!

Upper Room would like to invite all students to come pray and learn about Jesus. Upper Room is moving its meeting area to the locker room/training room of Dalzell Field. We will be meeting on the Hempstead locker room side of the building. Upper Room will still meet at its usual time of 7:00 on Tuesday mornings.

The 8th Annual Grey Ribbon Crusade will be taking place on Monday, May 29th. This run to fight brain cancer continues as a memorial to honor former DBQ Senior High School track coach and staff member, Jim Boughton and his hard work and legacy of achievement he left behind. It is also used as an avenue to continue the fight against brain related cancers by donating all of it proceeds to help others fight brain cancer.

There is a Kids mile race, a 5K race/walk, followed by a 1 mile race –with all races finishing on the Dalzell track. Please stop in the Activities Office or visit www.greyribbondubuque.org to get registered today!

Advance-sale Junior/Senior Prom tickets are now on sale in the business office through April 21. The prices are $15 for students and $30 for student/guest tickets.  Guest tickets MUST be purchased before 3pm on Wednesday, April 19.

The price for student tickets goes up to $20 at the door, so buy in advance!

All Dubuque Senior students will need their 2016-2017 double-sided student ID with photo and guests will need a photo ID to be admitted to the dance. There will be no exceptions at the door, so plan ahead!

Ram Women’s Track : Congratulations to the Ram Women’s Track team on their

fine efforts in last nights Waverly Invitational. The Rams placed second out of nine teams and won four events.

Event winners were: Mackenzie Gaherty in the 3000 Meter Run, Grace Gudenkauf in the High Jump and the team of

Stevie Lambe, Hannah Cook, Marissa Boleyn, and Emma Sass won the 4 X 200 and 4 X 400 relays.

The Ram Junior Varsity performed well also by winning four events: JV winners were Stacy Kloft in the 800, Abby Connolly in the 100 Hurdles and the 4 X 800 team of Victoria Healy, Tessa Easley, Josie Stackis and Grace Ries and Finally the 4 X 100 Relay team of Sydney Smith, Ava Romagna, Anna Brondyke, and Abby Connolly. Great Job Ram Women’s Track.

Congratulations to the Dubuque Senior Speech team for an impressive showing at the State IE Speech contest at Waldorf College on March 11th. The team earned 49 of 50 Division I ratings. The team also received 30 nominations to the All-State Festival March 27th at the University of Northern Iowa. The team earned the E Wayne Cooley Trophy for the most nominations to the All-State festival for the 7th straight year making them state champions. Way to go Rams!

has recently elected new officers! This year’s Senior High Awards Assembly will be on Monday May 15th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Senior High Auditorium. We have a variety of scholarships (Memorial, Community/School, and Specific College Sponsored) that are available for our Senior High graduating students.

ACTIVITIES

Congratulations to the Ram Women’s Track team on their fine performances in Thurday night’s UD Indoor. The Ram won 5 events and finished second in 4 other events. The Rams were led by Grace Gudenkauf who won the High Jump, the Long Jump and anchored the Shuttle Hurdle Relay to second Place. The Rams also won 3 Relays the 4 by 800, 4 by 200 and 4 by 400.  Great Job Ram Women’s Track.

The Senior Boys Basketball Team would like to thank everybody for the awesome support this year. Without the "RamFam" and all of the great support, we would not have had such a strong season. The team finished the season with a 19-4 overall record and MVC Championship. Post-season awards include Noah Carter 1st Team All-MVC Unanimous selection and 1st team all-substate. Louie Pshihoyos and Carter Stevens 2nd Team All-MVC, Sam Link and Matt Hendricks Honorable Mention All-MVC, and Tatum Hallstoos and Louie Psihoyos All-Academic MVC. The Dubuque Senior Boys Basketball Coaching Staff was MVC Coach Of The Year.

RUGBY: There will be a final informational meeting at 2:30 TODAY in Mr. Burbach’s room, D165, to discuss the future of a high school rugby club.
