On October 1st, Model UN students attended the Regional Iowa Youth Symposium and 5 of our students were selected to attend the Iowa Youth Symposium at the Capitol building in Des Moines. These five students, Jared Ensign, Pooja Patel, Hannah Schmitt, Naomi Brehm, and Aleisha Norton attended the state conference last week and did amazingly well. Aleisha Norton was named Outstanding Delegate which is awarded to only 8 of the students who attend this conference. Please congratulate her success!

Attention Winter-Sport Student Athletes

Are you planning on going out for a Winter Sport – Men’s or Women’s Basketball, Men’s or Women’s Bowling, Wrestling, or Men’s Swimming?

You NEED to stop in the Activities Office before or after school to sign up and make sure you have all of the required paperwork on file. Even if you have done one of these sports in the past, you NEED to come to the Activities Office and let them know you are going to participate.

State Football tickets are available in the Activities Office for $6.00. All tickets are the same price; K-12 students, Adults, Senior Citizens are all priced at $6.00. We have been informed that we will sit on the EAST SIDE of the DOME. Please use the NE or SE entrances to the Dome. Game time is 7 pm on Wednesday-October 29.

Football Playoff T-Shirts are here and will be available to purchase during the lunch hour in the cafeteria as well as the Activities Office– they are $10.

If you did not come to conferences and would like a copy of your Progress Report, you can come to the Main Office and pick yours up.

Thank you to all who helped and participated in College Application Week! Over the 2 days, we had over 80 students visit us to apply to college, research options, and research and apply to scholarships! Students reported what they worked on and we had over 100 applications filled out and sent onto various colleges and universities. Students received the helped they needed and checked some items off their senior year "to do" list - Way to go Rams!

The Senior men cross country team ran well at the State Qualifying Meet in Muscatine on Thursday October 25. The top 3 teams qualify for state 1st Pleasant Valley 26 pts. 2nd Senior 55 pts. 3rd Bettendorf 65 pts. The Rams were led by individual qualifiers Mark Whalen 3rd place and Austin Hiederscheit 8th place.

The Student Council’s October Social Event will be at Schuster’s Pumpkin Patch on October 26th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Families and friends of the RAM FAM are encouraged to attend. There will be a whole-group NHS meeting Today during A/D study times. We will give an hours update, discuss t-shirts and upcoming service events that will require member support. Please contact Mrs. Fischer if you cannot attend.

In the Boys Varsity Cross Country race yesterday, Mark Whalen led Senior to a 6th place finish in the Mississippi/Valley team race. Andrew Grawe paced the JV to a 3rd place finish. With the Fresh/Soph placing 4th overall led by Willy Whalen.

Congratulations goes out to all of the members of the Ram Marching Band and Color Guard on their great performance at the Little Hawk Marching Invitational on Saturday in Iowa City. Our drum majors won the "Best Drum Major Award" for the day and the Ram Marching Band won the Third place trophy. The groups collective score was 72.6 which was well into the division I rating. Congratulations to all on a job well done!

This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week. We are asking everyone to “Embrace Their Mental Health” Stay active, Stay connected, and Stay Healthy!!!

The Senior Cross Country Teams hosted the Dubuque City Meet on Thursday, October 2nd. The Men’s Varsity team placed 2nd led by Mark Whalen with a 16:26. JV and Fresh/Soph teams took 1st place. JV was led by Dana Miller 18:09 and Fresh/Soph led by Willy Whalen 17:35.
