Renaissance Students, Test Exemption Sign UP has begun! The final day to sign up is January 6th. To exempt students must have a Red or Blue Renaissance stamp, an A in the class they which to exempt and no more than four absences in that class. See your teacher to sign up by January 6th.

If you are interested in competing in the AMC (American Mathematical Competition) in February, please talk to Mrs. Jorgenson or Mrs. Goranson. Practice problems will be given out at Mu Alpha Theta on Tuesday Jan 5th at 7am in A321. Hope to see you soon!!

Congratulations to the Men’s Swim Team on their victory at the Clinton Holiday Invite. The swimmers won the meet by nearly 100 points and won 6 of the 11 events. Special congratulations to John Colin for setting a new meet record in the 100 Backstroke as part of his 4 event wins on the day.

Sara Redmond - a current student at Iowa State University - will be in the School Counseling Office at 8:30am on Tuesday, Dec 22nd to talk to interested students. Sara is a sophomore student studying Agricultural Business with a Communication Studies minor. Come visit Sara if you are interested in ISU or her studies.


Gap Year - Clarissa Dietz, a 2015 graduate of Senior - will be here to talk to students about her decision to take a "gap year" after graduating from high school. Clarissa decided to dedicate her time to travel and service. Hear about her adventures on Tuesday, Dec 22nd at 10:15am.

Mike is a veteran social studies teacher and former coach at Dubuque Senior High School and has been battling lung cancer. He and his family will be recognized at the basketball game the night of January 5th.

Please join us in supporting Mike by purchasing a Pink Out t-shirt (order forms can be found on the Senior High website or in the Activities Office). All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society and or former “Pink Out” honorees still battling cancer.

The Rams Wrestling team fought two hard fought battles last night as they improved their performance at Iowa City West High School against West High and Cedar Falls.

The Rams varsity team was led by Nate Huinker and Mitch Demmer both notching 2 wins on the night.

Also notching varsity wins for the Rams were Johnny Masman, Alex Richard, Mikey Koch, Isaac Cretsinger,

The Rams JV team was led with impressive performances from Spencer Schilling, Laterian Williams, and Leroy Busch

The Rams are working hard and looking forward to their tournament in Illinois this weekend.

Congratulations to the Men’s Swim Team on their 105-65 victory over Cedar Rapids Washington last night. This marks the second year in a row the swimmers have beaten Washington after no wins in the previous 35 years. The swim team moves to 6 and 1 on the season heading into Christmas break.

Battle of the Books:  Are you more of a reader than a fighter? Then you should consider Battle of the Books! This book-based competition will be similar to joining a competitive book club! It involves teams of up to 6 members reading selected books and then battling it out to show who knows them best!

Mrs. Bontemps and Mrs. Fischer will hold an informational meeting about Battle of the Books on Wednesday, at 7:15 am in the Library. Come hear what it's all about and share your ideas; if you are unable to attend, please stop and see Mrs. Bontemps in the library or Mrs. Fischer in B149.

Are you looking for something to do on Wednesday afternoons? Feel free to stop by Science Bowl practice in Mr. Gate's room (B241) from 2:30 to 3:30. RENAISSANCE ALERT! RENAISSANCE ALERT! ID stamping is happening now in the AP office for Renaissance before and after school. If you had As, Bs and Cs, no Ds or Fs on your progress report, please stop in the AP office to get your ID stamped. You will need the second quadrant stamped Red or Blue if you plan to exempt a semester final.

Seniors! The Echo Yearbook Staff needs your senior pictures! The following guidelines must be met for the photo to be included.

Photographs must be in color and have been taken with a traditional camera. Pictures from a cellular phone become very pixelated and will not appear properly. It must be a “raw” photo. No Photoshop or other editing as photos that have undergone this process are a smaller file size and will not print properly. Photograph must be a head shot. Hands should be down and away from the face so as not to obscure the subject. Top/shirt must have straps.

If an acceptable photo has not been received by January 15, your student ID photo will be used.

Many businesses are looking for part-time workers - new ones just posted on bulletin board by guidance office are Tony Roma's, Grand River Center, and Dubuque Specialty Care. Dubuque Specialty Care is paying $9 an hour to start and jobs are evenings 4:15 - 7:15 and every other weekend. No late hours and great starting pay. Check these out in guidance!
