Ram Women’s Track: Congratulations to the Ram Women’s Track team on their outstanding performances in last night’s City/County Meet. The Ram won 3 events Grace Gudenkauf continued her outstanding season by winning the High Jump, Stevie Lambe ran a the second fastest time in school history in winning the 200 Meter Dash, and the Distance Medley Team of Hannah Cook, Marissa Boleyn, Stevie Lambe and Lauren Miller also captured Gold with a season’s best time. But the Highlight of last night was the new school record in the 4 X 100 relay with the team of Emma Sass, Marissa Boleyn, Hannah Cook and Stevie Lambe breaking the old record set in 2001. Great Job Ram Women’s Track.

Friends of Homacho (FoH)
, a small, local non-profit dedicated to providing resources for the village of Homacho, Ethiopia, is hosting its 3rd Annual H2OforFoH Water Walk Relay. The event will take place on May 6, 2017, at Murphy Park in Dubuque, Iowa. The relay starts at 9:00 and will be completed before 10:30. You can sign up as a team or as an individual. Participants will carry two buckets of water around the paved road at Murphy Park before relaying them to another person if you are part of a team. Each individual will be asked to make three laps around the park to simulate women and girls in Homacho carrying water 1.5 miles almost daily. The registration fee is $20. That will include a t-shirt. Bananas and bagels will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own water bottle to fill there. Proceeds will go to benefit the work of FoH.

Advance-sale Junior/Senior Prom tickets are now on sale in the business office through April 21.


The cost is $15 for students and the price goes up to $20 at the door, so buy in advance!  Guest tickets are no longer available, as the deadline was Wednesday.

All Dubuque Senior students will need their 2016-2017 double-sided student ID with photo and guests will need a photo ID to be admitted to the dance. There will be no exceptions at the door, so plan ahead!

Hey Rams!! I have a very special announcement from your Student Council in regards to the Ram Fam Assembly tomorrow. Simply put, its going to be amazing. So here are the top 3 reasons why you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Reason number 1: Mini golf!! There will be 9 holes of golf to test your skills

Reason number 2: Inflatables such as leaps and bounds, a giants obstacles course to challenge your friends on and an incredibly large slide!

Reason number 3
: Tug-O-War, 3 on 3 basketball and plenty of minute to win it games for you to set some new school records! Also, back by popular demand is NHS’s famous “what would you do for a Klondike Bar” challenge.

Trust me you don’t want to miss out on this assembly! See you after 5th hour tomorrow on Dalzell field!

This year at Friday's Ram Fam assembly
, we are going to offer 3-on-3 Basketball and tug-o-war! Each team must have at least one girl and one boy. For 3-on-3 basketball, only one varsity basketball player (male or female) is allowed per team, and team must be no larger than 3 people. The maximum size for tug of war is 6 students. Teachers are more than welcome to compete on teams. You can sign up in guidance, the main office, or the stuco zone during all lunches!

On Tuesday, the Ram's women track team ran strong at the Mustang Relays and finished second as a team.

1st place finishers were:   Stevie Lambe in the 200 meter dash

2nd place finishes were:   Makenzie Gerherty in the 3000 meter run

Friends of Homacho (FoH), a small, local non-profit dedicated to providing resources for the village of Homacho, Ethiopia, is hosting its 3rd Annual H2OforFoH Water Walk Relay. The event will take place on May 6, 2017, at Murphy Park in Dubuque, Iowa. The relay starts at 9:00 and will be completed before 10:30. You can sign up as a team or as an individual. Participants will carry two buckets of water around the paved road at Murphy Park before relaying them to another person if you are part of a team. Each individual will be asked to make three laps around the park to simulate women and girls in Homacho carrying water 1.5 miles almost daily. The registration fee is $20. That will include a t-shirt. Bananas and bagels will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own water bottle to fill there. Proceeds will go to benefit the work of FoH.

For 3-on-3 basketball, only one varsity basketball player (male or female) is allowed per team, and team must be no larger than 3 people. The maximum size for tug of war is 6 students. Teachers are more than welcome to compete on teams. You can sign up in guidance, the main office, or the stuco zone during all lunches!

Attention students going to Prom: Weber Photography will be taking pictures again this year. Order forms and pricing information can be found in the Main Office.

Advance-sale Junior/Senior Prom tickets

Congratulations to the music department
on their great performances at the State Solo Ensemble Contest on Saturday, April 8. The music department received 42 Division I ratings , 17 Division II ratings and two Best of Center Awards. Justin Blum was awarded the Best of Center in the Orchestra and Paige Kizer and Jaydn Basten were awarded Best of Center in the Band. Way to Be Rams!!

Congratulations to the Ram Women’s Track team
on their fine efforts in Friday night’s Dyersville Beckman Invitational. The Rams won four events and placed 2nd in 6 other events.

Event winners were: Mackenzie Gaherty in the 1500 Meter Run, Grace Gudenkauf in the Long Jump and the team of Stevie Lambe, Hannah Cook, Marissa Boleyn, and Emma Lambe won the 4 X 200 and Emma Lambe also anchored the 4 X 100 Relay team of Taylor Redmond, Corina Cook and Eva Romagna to victory.

Model UN
participated at the state Model United Nations conference at UNI last week. With over 400 students in attendance, Senior stood out receiving 6 awards. Ben Schultz scored a 98/100 on his position paper earning him Outstanding Position Paper recognition. With only 14 Outstanding Delegate awards available 5 of those went to our Rams: Josie Mills, Sydney Ringold, Sibani Ram, El Taverna, and Jaxen Shaw-Vanatta. 3 Ram claps for all of their hard work.

The cost is only 10 dollars with all proceeds going to the Iowa Children’s Miracle Network but come to the StuCo Zone during lunch for a chance at a free ticket by guessing how many Starbursts are in the jar. We will see you there!

Dubuque Senior High School will be offering an Independent Study Course
to start next fall for students interested in technology careers. We will have an informational meeting Wednesday, April 5th at 7:10 A.M. in the Library. If you are unable to attend, and would like more information, contact Mr. Bishop in D140, or email him at cbishop@dbqschools.org.

are now on sale in the business office through April 21. The prices are $15 for students and $30 for student/guest tickets.

Guest tickets MUST be purchased before 3pm on Wednesday, April 19.
The price for student tickets goes up to $20 at the door, so buy in advance!

All Dubuque Senior students will need their 2016-2017 double-sided student ID with photo and guests will need a photo ID to be admitted to the dance. There will be no exceptions at the door, so plan ahead!

The jobs include Marina cashier at the Port of Dubuque, Marina dock attendant, Lifeguards, pool cashiers, and pool concession workers. You can apply online at the City of Dubuque!

The 8th Annual Grey Ribbon Crusade
will be taking place on Monday, May 29th. This run to fight brain cancer continues as a memorial to honor former DBQ Senior High School track coach and staff member, Jim Boughton and his hard work and legacy of achievement he left behind. It is also used as an avenue to continue the fight against brain related cancers by donating all of it proceeds to help others fight brain cancer.

There is a Kids mile race, a 5K race/walk, followed by a 1 mile race –with all races finishing on the Dalzell track. Please stop in the Activities Office or visit www.greyribbondubuque.org to get registered today!


Students, are you going out for Baseball or Softball? If so make sure you stop in the Activities Office to get signed up. Baseball starts on May 1st and Softball starts May 8th. Hit a home run and get signed up today!

ATTENTION JUNIOR BOYS interested in the POLITICAL PROCESS: We are looking to send 1 or 2 junior male students to the Iowa American Legion Hawkeye Boys State week long "Hands-On" experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Iowa government.

If you are interested:  *** You MUST be willing to attend the American Legion Boys State at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa from June 11th-16th, 2017.

ACTIVITIES

Congratulations to the Ram Women’s Track
team on their outstanding performances in last nites Tri-State Relays. The Ram won 3 events and finished second in 5 other events. They also turned in 5 Honor Roll Performances, some of the best efforts in school history. The Rams were led by Grace Gudenkauf who won the Long Jump, Stevie Lambe won the 100 Meter Dash and Hannah Cook who won the 200 Meter Dash. Mackenzie Gaherty ran the 6th fastest time in school history in the 3000 Meter run and Lauren Miller ran the 5th fastest time in school history in the 800 Meter Run.

We are weeding old non-fiction books from the library. Stop down any time to select books to read, or to use for art projects with recycled books that could be displayed in the new library!

Upper Room
would like to invite all students to come pray and learn about Jesus. Upper Room is moving its meeting area to the locker room/training room of Dalzell Field. We will be meeting on the Hempstead locker room side of the building. Upper Room will still meet at its usual time of 7:00 on Tuesday mornings.
