11th and 12th graders, If you are in Honors or AP classes and are interested in tutoring other Rams during your free period Mondays and Wednesdays, please see Mrs. Schueller or Mrs. Brokus in the AP office.

Snowcoming tickets are now on sale through February 9 in the Business Office. The cost of a blue student ticket is $8. If you are purchasing a red ticket for yourself and a guest from another school, the cost of the ticket is $16 and will gain entry to the dance for both you and your guest. All red guest tickets must be purchased by 3pm on February 8 so the AP Office can review and approve the guest list. NO EXCEPTIONS! Dubuque Senior students will need their double-sided 2016-17 student ID WITH PHOTO (not the temporary ID) and their guests will need a picture ID to be admitted to the dance. There will be no exceptions made at the door, so plan ahead to bring your current Student ID and a photo ID for your guest. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, as the price increases to $10 if you buy them at the door. See you there!

Congratulations to the Ram Wrestlers for an eventful weekend.  At the MVC Tournament on Saturday, Isaac Cretsinger placed 6th, Alex Richard placed 4th, and the Rams Have a Conference Champion with Matt Connolly, taking the 138 pound bracket. Way to go Matt!!!

The JV Wrestled at Lancaster against some strong Competition but still winning Championships for the Rams Were:

On Saturday, Senior's 5-member Science Bowl Team
went to Iowa State University to compete in the Regional Science Bowl Competition. After 9 increasingly difficult rounds of questions covering biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, energy, and math they proudly earned a 4th place ranking out of 40 teams! Be sure to congratulate Jacob Hansen, Sibani Ram, Collin Sindt, Allison Steger, and Grace Tsui when you see them today - and ask them how you can join the team next year! Practices will be held every-other Wednesday (beginning Feb. 8th) after school in B242.

STUDENT NEWS

The Special Olympics team traveled to Eldridge, IA on Saturday, January 21st for the basketball competition. Eight athletes competed and received several first and second place ribbons.

Do you like exploring new games with friends?
If so, Board Game Club will be having an informational meeting today after school from 2:30 to 4. Details of the club will be discussed shortly before diving into some games with fellow Rams.

Last year’s pancake breakfast at Catfish Charlies to support wrestling was a huge success. We are hosting another breakfast this Sunday beginning at 9:00 until 1:00 p.m. Come enjoy a large breakfast buffet with everything from bacon and sausage to scrambled eggs, and of course, pancakes! The cost of the breakfast is only $6 (cheapest breakfast you'll find in town for what you get). All proceeds will go to the Rams Wrestling team. Even better, once you have your food, our wrestlers will serve you and get you anything you like.

There will also be a raffle going on with a lot of great prizes. Prizes will range from Ram wrestling apparel to custom made signs among many other things. The top prize (huge value) is an all expenses paid 8 person dinner at Catfish Charlies. Raffle tickets will be one for $5 or 3 for $10.

The wrestler that gets the most people there will win a free prom dinner so be sure to tell the person at the door who you are there for.

If you stick around long enough you will get to see Coach Kohl and Coach Daughetee attempt to finish the 12-pound breakfast platter challenge to raise more money for the team.

So if you are planning on lounging around and not doing much on Sunday, please come have a great time, eat some good food, and support the Rams Wrestling team any time from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for only $6.

Last year’s Senior Wrestler's pancake breakfast at Catfish Charlies to support wrestling was a huge success. We are hosting another breakfast this Sunday beginning at 9:00 until 1:00 p.m. Come enjoy a large breakfast buffet with everything from bacon and sausage to scrambled eggs, and of course, pancakes! The talent show auditions will be held after school on Monday, February 6th and Tuesday, February 7th. If you are in Book Club, we are meeting TODAY at 2:25 in the library to discuss Graceling.

Do you like to write just for fun? Do you get hand cramps from writing for hours? Do you yearn for a place where none of your work is graded and you can still get helpful feedback? We have a club for you! Dubuque Senior has recently resurfaced the long forgotten Writing club this 2017 school year! “The Scribes” is a club that welcomes all novice writers, no matter the skill level, to come write, share and give helpful feedback to fellow “Scribes”. The first meeting will be held TODAY at 2:30 in A-213. Sign-up sheets are in the majority of English classrooms. Any questions? Please talk to Mrs. Williams in A-213.

The 2017 PINK OUT will be Friday, February 10th against Hempstead. This year the PINK OUT will be for Sharon Riesselman. Sharon is the mother of Emily Mott who plays on the Senior Girls Basketball Team. Sharon has been battling Uterine Cancer and the cancer has spread to her lungs. Deadline for ordering "PINK OUT" apparel is Friday, January 27th. Stop in  at the Activities or Main Office to pick up an apparel form.

Dubuque Senior Wrestlers are having a Pancake breakfast this Sunday January 29th from 9-1 at Catfish Charlies. The wrestlers will be selling raffle tickets for some big prizes drawing will be at 12:30. Some raffle prizes will include: A Dinner for 8 at Catfish Charles, A Cruise on the American Lady, and a Steel American Flag with Distressed Wood.

Boys – if you are not currently doing a winter sport and were in the 1st semester PE Performance class, but not 2nd semester, you NEED to clear out the locker you were using and bring your padlock up to the Activities Office. If we do not receive your lock and your locker is not cleared out by the end of the day, TODAY, your locker will be cleared out and you may be charged for your lock.

Also – if you are using a locker that was not assigned to you by the Activities Office, you need to stop up to the Activities Office or your locker will be cleared out at the end of the day TODAY as well.

There will be a NHS meeting on Tuesday during A/D study time in the Auditorium. We will be discussing upcoming service opportunities, including The Man Pageant. Please plan to be there, or contact Mrs. Fischer if you are unable to attend.

Congratulations to the men’s swim team on their 4th place finish at the MVC Championships on Saturday. The following swimmers finished in the top 6 of at least 1 event to help lead the team: Will Colin, Jacob Hansen, Drake Oswald, Collin Sindt, and Brandon Yuan.

Congratulations to the Dubuque Senior Speech Team on an excellent showing at the District Large Group speech contest at Cascade High School on Saturday. The team received 28 out of 29 Division I ratings. Those 28 events will move on to compete in the state contest at Dubuque Senior on February 4th. Great Job Rams!

Congratulations goes to the Ram Wrestling team for outstanding performances at meets this weekend.

The Varsity Wrestling  Placed second at the 14 team tournament and had two champs. Mitch Demmer and Alex Richard Won their bracts for the Rams.


The JV Wrestling Team Won The 20 team Riverdale Tournament with 7 champs.

Fitness testing for contract wellness was scheduled for Thursday, January 19th at 7:00 am in Nora gym. There was a two-hour school delay on this day. Please Join the Dubuque Senior Color Guard Sunday January 22nd at 3pm for their Spring Show on Top of Pride Rock! Admission is only $5. What a great way to support the color guard as they showcase all of their hard work from throughout the year!

Civil Engineering is a new program and is hosted by IIW Engineers & Surveyors. They will be meeting once a month from January through May and will introduce students to a variety of engineering principles. Space is limited to the first 16 students who RSVP, so stop by Guidance if interested!
