STUDENT NEWS

Any 12th grade baseball player is eligible for the Scott Althoff Memorial Scholoarship.  This scholarship is given out each year to a deserving senior in Scott’s honor. If you are interested in this scholarship, please see Mr. Felderman sometime this week for information.  The application is due be the end of March.   


CHEER - If you were unable to attend the Cheerleading Tryout Informational Meeting, make SURE you stop by the Activities Office to pick up a Cheer Packet!  If you are thinking of trying out on March 23rd, there are a LOT of forms that need to be filled out and turned in as soon as possible – teacher evaluations are DUE next week!!

Athletes – if you are signed up for a Spring Sport and still need to take or re-take the IMPACT Concussion Test, a NEW DATE has been added!  Thursday, March 12th, the IMPACT Test will be offered along with March 9th, 16th and 19th.  All test will be given at 2:30 in Room D157, with the exception of March 16th.  March 16th’s test will be given at 12:00pm in Room D157.

If you’re not sure if you need to take the test, make sure you stop by the Activities Office! 

Signing up for Spring Sports?  Make sure you get signed up and know when your sport begins. It cannot be stressed enough!

·        Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Golf officially start on Monday, March 16th – this is also the first day of Spring Break.  The Activities Office will NOT be open during Spring Break, so you need to make sure you are signed up and all required paperwork is turned in beforehand.

·        Women’s Soccer officially starts on Monday March 23rd.

·        Make sure you find out if you have to take/retake the Impact Concussion Test. 

·        PLAN AHEAD – get signed up today in the Activities Office!  Any questions, please call 563-552-5521

The following sports teams will be having pre-season meetings on the following dates:
Women’s Soccer – Monday, March 9th at 5:15 pm in the Cafeteria

Attention All Senior Students:  If you plan to take a Physical Education Athletic Exemption for the 2020-2021 school year, you need to complete an exemption form.  These forms are available in the Counseling Office.
In order to receive a physical education exemption at Dubuque Community Schools, students must be involved in TWO SPORTS.
Please complete and return these forms to the Counseling as soon as possible.  If an exemption form is not turned in, a PE Class will be added to our schedule

Attention:  Students in the graduating Class of 2020

This year’s Senior High Awards Assembly will be on Monday May 18th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Senior High Auditorium.  

We will have a variety of scholarships (Memorial, Community/School, and Specific College Sponsored) that are available for our Senior High graduating students in the class of 2020. 

To be eligible for these scholarships, you will need to complete an application that was emailed to you (at your school email address) and your parents on Monday February 10th, 2020.  Please fill out the application form electronically and electronically submit the completed PDF application to Mrs. Lawrence at llawrence@dbqschools.org by Tuesday March 10th, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.
